ГОЙЯ Френсис (Francis Goya) (настоящее имя - Френсис [Франсис] Вейер), бельгийский гитарист. Родился в семье музыкантов в г. Льеже (Бельгия) в 1946 г. Гитарой стал заниматься с 13 лет. В 16-летнем возрасте организовал вместе с братом и друзьями свою первую рок-группу - ''The Jivaros''. В 1966 г. он познакомился с Лу Деприком (Lou Depryck), выступавшим в группах ''Two Man Sound'' и ''Hollywood Bananas'', который стал ведущим певцом в новой группе Френсиса Вейера - ''Les Liberty Six''. В 1970 году Френсис стал выступать в составе профессиональной музыкальной группы ''The J.J.Band'', с которой совершил несколько турне по Великобритании, Швеции, Дании и ряду стран Африки и записал несколько альбомов. 1975 г. стал годом начала сольной карьеры Френсиса. Взяв псевдоним Френсис Гойя он вместе с группой «Плюс» начинает запись альбомов. Выход первого же его сингла — «Ностальгия» — приносит музыканту мировую славу, платиновые и золотые диски в Европе, Азии и Латинской Америке. «Ностальгия» - это новая аранжировка Френсисом композиции отца и посвященная его памяти. Известность Френсиса Гойи как джазового и рок-гитариста достигла зенита в начале 1980-х. В 1981 г. Гойя стал первым артистом «легкого жанра», выступившим вместе с оркестром Большого театра, под аккомпанемент русских народных инструментов и мужского хора. Русские мотивы Гойе удаются как нельзя лучше, о чем свидетельствует прекрасный альбом ''Moscow Nights''. В этот альбом с воздушными куполами собора Василия Блаженного на обложке вошли в основном обработки народных песен - ''Калинка'', ''Две гитары'', ''Очи черные'' и необыкновенные интерпретации ''Подмосковных вечеров'' Соловьева-Седого и ''Дорогой длинною'' Раскина. Считается, что гитаристу подвластны все стили, он увлекается синтезом классики и латиноамериканских ритмов. Гойя славится необычайно умелыми аранжировками, крепкой командой единомышленников, продуманностью программ, выносимых на суд слушателей. В 1990 г. он создает творческий дуэт с боливийской певицей Карминой Кабрера (Carmina Cabrera), вместе с которой они записали 3 CD-диска: Bahia Lady (1990), Noche Latino (1993) Festival Latino (1994).

В 1994 г. Френсис Гойя организует дуэт с датским музыкантом Питером Викерсом (Peter Weekers), бывшим лидером и флейтистом группы ''Flairck'' и записывает новый CD-диск. Мировую известность получил и совместный альбом Френсиса Гойи с Ричардом Клейдерманом (Richard Clayderman) ''Together'', с которым артист вступил в новое тысячелетие. В мае 2002 года музыкант представил в Санкт-Петербурге свой новый альбом с музыкой Александры Пахмутовой.

Born of musician parents in the city of Liege - Belgium. Francis Weyer receives his first guitar at the age of 13 and takes guitar lessons over a one year period to become a true auto dictate. At the age of 16, he forms his first rock band with his brother and a few friends, "The Jivaros". In 1966 he meets-up with Lou Deprijck (the lead singer of the "Two Man Sound" and "Hollywood Bananas") who is becomes lead singer of Francis's new band "Liberty Six".

In 1970, Francis is taken on by a professional soul band, "The J.J.Band", With whom he tours Europe and Africa. Their second album is produced by Brian Bennet (The Shadows) for CBS International in London. Thanks to all this he becomes a studio guitarist, accompanying various artists on the international scene, Demis Roussos, Three Degrees, Vicky Leandros,...

Nostalgia, the route to international fame

In 1975, a solo artists is born, Francis Weyer becomes Francis Goya. Everything speeds up with the recording of his first single "Nostalgia". Originally his father's composition, rearranged by Francis and initially presented as a memory to a father, "Nostalgia" goes straight to the top of the charts, number one in Belgium, Holland, Germany, Norway and Brazil. In Finland sells over 600.000 copies, an unpreccdented record for a country of only 4.000.000 inhabitants. Followed, one after the other, by gold and platinum disc in Europe, Asia and South America, "Nostalgia" overcome all language barriers and shall speed him over all the continents of the world and become his guide for the rest of his career.

In 1981, Francis Goya becomes the first artist in history to record in Moscow with the prestigious Tsadikovsky's Instrumental Ensemble, Male group of the Great Choir USSR Radio and TV. In the eighties; he also works in the Netherlands with Harry Van Hoof and Ruud Jacobs, as producer for Lenny Kuhr, Benny Neyman. This is the period that allows him to experiment with various styles of orchestration and above all to perfect the "Goya Style" (A particular sound with a mixture of sensibility and sunny resonance, appreciated and followed by a faithful audience.

The latino-american period

Francis Goya is a musician at ease with all styles of music. This is how, contacted by Peter Gistelinck, the producer of the musical film writer Dirk Brossй, he interprets the musical theme for the film "Boerenpsalm" (1989 and the commercial theme from "Koko Flanel" (1990). In 1990, he forms a duo with Carmina Cabrera, the ravishing Bolivian singer, with whom he will record 3 CD's of Latino American style, Bahia Lady (1990) Noche Latino (1993) Festival Latino (1994). With the CD "Bahia Lady he wins the prestigious Dutch Palm, Prix Edison 1991. In 1991 and 1993 RTL television hire him to orchestrate the Luxembourg candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest in Rome and Dublin.

A man enjoying organising shows, in 1994 he forms a duo with the Dutch artist Peter Weekers, the ex-leader and flutist of the group "Flairck", and they record a new CD. Together, they decide to mount a visual show combining all their musical talent. The result is quite remarkable, a composite of various styles: Oriental, Romantic, Blues, Classical, Pop, Bossa Nova and even Jazzy. Accompanied by 3 young gifted artistes (on the Keyboards, Bass and Drums). Wood Wind and Strings Francis and Peter tour the Netherlands.

Numbers behind the artist

Throughout his career, Francis Goya has recorded at least one album between tours, to arrive at the grand total of 40, for which most will become Gold or Platinum. He has made 2 world-wide tours. That is followed by a number of invitations in Thailand (1989 & 1992), Finland (1991 & 1992), Canary Islands and the Netherlands in 1994. Since 1995 until 1999, Francis has recorded another four new CD's. For new Millennium, Francis Goya and Richard Clayderman, recorded a new Album: "Together" . This will receive world-wide distribution. In April 2000 Francis gave a few exclusive concerts at the City Hall in Tallin (Estonia). A major tour is foreseen for April 2001in the Baltic countries including St Petersburg etc.

A Tribute to Alexandra Pakhmutova

Francis just recorded a 12 titles CD in which he plays the most beautiful melodies of the famous russian composer Alexandra Pakhmutova.
