A relatively early score from Legrand shows his musical promise in sparkling form. Strong jazz melodies are reprised throughout the album, taken from a Hayley Mills film. Orchestral jazz is effortlessly mixed with heavier, dancefloor-oriented easy funk sounds in an accessible and enjoyable form. Several big beat lounge tracks are worthy of investigation, while the outstanding cut is the superb 'Goodbye Mr. Critch', featuring groovy drum breaks and a great uptempo sound. |
