It's been four years since Geri's last solo album but finally Passion makes it to the shops, despite rumours that Virgin were on the verge of dropping the former Spice Girl. As such you may expect a stinker of an album but, actually, Passion isn't that bad. Okay, the lyrics verge on cringey a lot of the time, and not even the considerable talents of Robbie Williams' former songwriting partner Guy Chambers (he writes two songs here) do well with Geri as a muse. But there are some saving graces and Geri might be the one with the most successful solo career if and when the Spice Girls reunion comes about. — George Young. |
