Nomadi

Nomadi

Legendary Italian experimental rock band Nomadi was formed in 1963 by singer Augusto Daolio, keyboardist Beppe Carletti, guitarist Franco Midili, drummer Leonardo Manfredini, sax player Gualtiero Gelmini, and bassist Antonio Campari. The band released its debut album in 1965. During the following years, Nomadi, which means the Nomads, participated in the most important local festivals, such as San Remo and Canzonissima, in addition to getting its music heard throughout Europe. In 1992, the group suffered two losses after founder Augusto Daolio passed away and bassist Dante Pergreffi died in an accident. Nevertheless, Nomadi decided to go ahead, honoring former members with its music. Soon after, the act was performing along with Chilean Inti Illimani and launching a campaign to collect didactic material for Cuban children in 1994. Around the same time, the band got involved in Green Peace and Amnesty International activities. — Drago Bonacich.
