The band's final studio album other than their abominable 1989 reunion record, Long John Silver continued the group's descent into inoffensive mediocrity. The aircraft burned on pretty low fuel on this low-key set, although most of the principal members were still around. Kantner and Slick wrote most of the material, and while it's far from awful, it sounds more like a set of outtakes than anything approaching their glory days. — Richie Unterberger. |
